house_slash [ ignazwisdom ]	7:39p	New story: Involuntary Commitment (House, H/W, NC-17) Title: Involuntary Commitment Author: Ignaz Wisdom (ignaz) Fandom: House Pairing: House/Wilson Rating: Explicit/NC-17 Length: 42,000 words Summary: House heads to rehab. Things go pretty much as well as you'd expect. Notes: This story is the sequel to my (rather old) A Modest Proposal. Both are set in season three—they actually make up a sort of alternative season—and contain no spoilers for anything past then. You don't need to be familiar with A Modest Proposal in order to follow Involuntary Commitment (although I think it's a fun read, and it might help explain how we got to this improbable place). About the medicine: a lot of research went into this thing ... and then a lot of research went right back out again. I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, and I hope you'll bear with me and understand that some sacrifices had to be made for the sake of telling a story. Pulling this thing together redefined the word "grueling." I very much hope you find it worth the effort. Additional notes may be found following the story. Thank you to everyone who came out to the Emerald City con in Seattle! We had fun at the TopatoCo Castle and especially at the TMH Live pre-party. I’m very much looking forward to sharing the video of the event with you, as soon as it’s ready! I also wanted to give a special thank-you to Shari for this wonderful sketch: You may remember Shari’s spirited prequel to this comic. These are the sorts of things that arise when I livestream the comic-makin’ process! We get to chatting while I’m putting the comics together, and every little piece that goes into the work gets an elaborate backstory. Shari’s piece made me wonder just how Strivey got himself into that pickle in the first place… It was an ordinary day for Strivey. He’d heard there might be some lettuce underneath the back porch of the big blue house, so he took a wide, ambling stroll around the side of the building, finding sure footing in the grass as the sun paced him. He liked to time his walks with the sun this way, keeping steadily in that pleasing light, and he fancied himself an escort for that old yellow friend, showing him the way across the old footbridge over the course of an afternoon, or around a large tree, or behind a big blue house. But today, as they walked slowly and carefully together, the sun managed to tangle itself behind a stand of scraggly branches, and no amount of Strivey’s coaxing could urge it back out. It happened this way often, to Strivey’s chagrin and despite all his urging, and usually it took all night for the big lunkhead to free himself and meet Strivey sheepishly back in the morning. Strivey would shake his small, wrinkled head, and the sun would start to shine brighter and brighter as if saying “I know, I know,” and then they would go on a long walk again. Today was no different. So by the time Strivey reached the deck behind the big blue house, it was dim; and even though the dimness of evening is never the best time to look for lettuce that might be hiding, he’d come this far, and he was hungry. He peered about in the deck’s corners and crevices, and when nothing was evident beneath the deck he managed to make his way on top of it, and then from there into the house itself, and from there down a long hallway and into a room which was emitting a bright glow as if the sun had beat him there. “That crafty devil managed to sneak in ahead of me,” thought Strivey, as he nosed his way through the doorway. The sun was smaller in person, a tiny glass figure shouting fiercely at a woman’s leering face. Immediately Strivey knew something was wrong — for his friend’s light, though bright, was not warm, having been trapped within this bulb of glass like a genie captured in a bottle, and the woman was the trapper. Strivey tried to turn back and flee, but he was, after all, a tortoise, and a sprint back toward the hall took him about twenty minutes. Next up: Comicpalooza in Houston, TX, March 26-28! malitterae	6:00a	Kirby’s Very Good Day http://kirbycrow.com/blog/?p=97 I wasn’t able to attend the Epicon convention in New Orleans, but my publisher (Laura at MLR) accepted for me and this came in the mail! My first reaction was; “They put my NAME on it! Yippee!” I think my inner little hater (the same one who whispers to you at 2AM that you’re wasting your time scribbling novels when you could be making macrame plant holders) told me it would be some generic plastic trophy, maybe with gold-tone paint and sparkles and shaped like a pony. Not so! I love this thing and it looks fantastic! I’m deeply honored and pleased that the folks at Epic felt I deserved this. Thank you. *Note: Because I was asked about “Horror Erotic Romance” and what it was: I don’t believe it is a genre. It’s a category created for the awards. I understand there are several standard genre categories in the EPIC awards (scifi, fantasy, horror, etc.) and then all the categories were expanded for adult content with the tag “erotic romance”. Though Angels of the Deep is not erotica, I believe they wanted a way to distinguish books for all ages from books that only adults should read. (Comment on this)

I just realised I won stuff for some stories I'm fairly proud of -- Mr Potter Lives for a Day (Albus Severus and siblings), The Path of Least Resistance (Teddy/Al), The Sketchbook (Sirius/Teddy), and Scorpius Malfoy's Very Bad Week (Scorpius/James/Teddy) -- so thanks for that. Even though voting is over, there are some great stories on the nominations page if you're looking for more next-gen stuff to read. ♥ In other news, I just realised I haven't yet posted the round-up of recs I did at crack_broom last month, whoops. I volunteered to rec Harry/Ron, because it's one of those pairings I'm fully on board about, but which I don't seek out as often as I should. This was a great chance to revisit some old favourites as well as read new stuff. I mostly kept to entries from bestmates_xmas over the past two years, so if you're looking for more good fic and art for this pairing, that's a great comm to start with. I seem to gravitate towards humour fic for this pairing more than others, but there is also a good mix of some burning hot erotica on this list, as well as some lovely drama and romance. :) Links go to the more detailed rec at CB, which then has links to the actual stories/art. Some of these I've already recc'ed here at my journal, but others are new for CB. Drama, some humour) Fred's will contains an unexpected bequest, and Harry has to figure out how to deal with it.
